Animal Tracking on the Appleton Preserve, led by naturalist Laura Sebastianelli, Adult & Family Coordinator at Tanglewood 4–H Camp & Learning Center. Bring lunch and wear warm clothing. Saturday, February 16, 10 am - 12 noon Winter Landscape walk on the Canal Path (snow shoes if weather permits), led by GRLT volunteer Sid Quarrier. Meet at the Ghent bridge in Searsmont. Meet in Community Room at Rockland Public Library. Saturday, March 29, Georges River White Water Race, sponsored by Waldo YMCA. GRLT will have a display table at the Searsmont Church. Registration 8:30 - 10:30 am, race starts at 11 am & terminates at Inland Fisheries & Wildlife next to GRLT’s Appleton Preserve on Rte 105. April

Meet at the Frye Mountain Wildlife Management Area maintenance building on the Walker Ridge Road off Rte. 220 in Montville, 6.8 miles north of Rte. 3. Bring snack and water. June

St. George Celebrates the Sea. Contact Herring Gut Learning Center (372-8677) for more information. Saturday, June 14 Contribute to the kick-off to National River Clean-up Program. Choose a section of the Georges River to explore, and do your part to help keep the river clean by collecting any trash that you see along the river. Enjoy the river while being a steward! Saturday, June 21, 10 am - 12 noon Canoe/kayak paddle on Stevens Pond in Liberty, led by Charles Hudson & Sharon Salmon, volunteers of Liberty Lakes Association and GRLT. Meet at public landing, Rte 173, 1 mile from Liberty Village and .4 of a mile south of junction of Trues Pond Road and Stevens Pond Road (Rte 173). Rain date-Sunday, June 22nd. Please call GRLT office at 594-5166 to register. Thursday, June 26, 7:00 am Sunrise Yoga & Meditation on Spruce Mountain in Rockport. Join Rachel Nixon, Kripalu Yoga Instructor and past director of GRLT, for a morning hike up Spruce and mountain-top yoga to greet the day, the bay, and the watershed. Open to all - no yoga experience necessary. Meet at Route 17 GHP trailhead. Bring a snack and water. July

Thursday, July 31, 6:30 - 8 pm “Buffers & Invasives”, talk & slideshow presented by Liz Stanley, University of Maine Cooperative Extension, & Annette Naegel, GRLT Conservation Project Manager. Join the St. George Community Sailing Foundation for its Sixth Annual Maritime Day in Tenants Harbor. Events include a Row and Paddle Rally consisting of 1.5 mile and 6 mile courses and sailing races for small boats later in the day. “Green Development & Low Impact Forestry,” led by Jan Wirth, Developer of Old Woods Farm, a small conservation neighborhood, & Jim Ostergard, Certified Master Logger. Description of planning process for this small green development with forestry and logging work done using a horse. Meet at Old Woods Farm, 47 Port Clyde Road, Tenants Harbor. Saturday, September 13, 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm Golden Raven Storytelling Circle joins with GRLT to celebrate the rhythm and flow of the Georges River with stories, myths, music, and baked corn by the campfire. Led by Roland Watier, master storyteller. Program followed by annual ritual closing of the Golden Raven Storytelling Circle. Bring musical instruments. Meet at 715 Sennebec Road, Union. Saturday, September 27, 9 am – 12 noon Walk the new Thomaston Village Trail that winds its way around the waterfront and through downtown. Co-sponsored by the Thomaston Conservation Commission and Georges River Land Trust. Choose the 1.5 mile loop or be adventurous and opt for the 3 mile loop.
